Daylight Saving Ended – Hopefully Forever

This morning Western Australia ended the three year trial on having daylight saving.  Although every referendum has said NO to daylight saving, those in power at the time decreed we should try it for three years.  Now we are to have another referendum on the 16th May.

Perth has 20 minutes daylight saving all year round because of its geographical location.

It is the Business sector that is pushing for this.  They don’t like being 3 hours behind the east coast when the east coast is on daylight saving.

The rational for daylight saving used to be energy saving, but this is not the case in Western Australia.  Every body gets home that hour earlier and turns on their air conditioning causing more energy to be consumed.  Then it is too hot to make use of this extra hour of evening time anyway. Then there is trying to get children to bed when the sun is shining.

If this final referendum comes in with another NO vote, hopefully that will be the end of it forever and we will rejoin Queensland in not having daylight saving.

  1. Hello Bruce
I see your name was used in a testimonial for xsitepro complete training, I am interested in purchasing the course I have a slow download connection in New Zealand and was wondering if there’s any way that I can capture the training video footage on my computer
and then be able to access it whenever I like or even burn it to a DVD and use each of the training modules on my laptop while working on my desktop, first off the time it takes to download each module will drive you as crazy as watching paint dry, I’m happy to pay for the course but not happy I have to pay for the excessive downloading cost each time I use it, just wondering if you could help me out
    regards
    Ian

  2. Unfortunately there does not seem to be any way to save the course to computer or DVD. It is something you could approach Paul Smithson about though. I have found the couse very helpful, and I intend to repeat it before my years access runs out in October. Any chance of increasing you internet speed. I’m out of touch with what is happening over there but I know my son and daughter in NZ have good conection speeds.
